The February meeting of the Nortun Lodge featured Scandinavian woodcarver Barb Oase of Duluth. She discussed the techniques of Scandinavian carving – chip carving, acanthus and flat plane styles – with lots of examples to pass around. Barb also brought an array of carvers’ tools, demonstrating how the various knives and chisels are used to achieve various effects.
