Gatherings

We meet once a month on the second Sunday at the Family of God Lutheran Church, located at 4079 Martin Road in Duluth.  The meeting begins at 1 PM with a meal followed by a program.  The building is accessible to the handicapped and there is plenty of parking on site.

Recent Events

Lodge member Mike Conlan gave a presentation on the Viking settlements in Ireland, including the norse founding of Dublin, Cork, Waterford and Limerick, all Viking settlements from which marauders conducted raids on Irish market towns and, especially, monasteries.
The February meeting of the Nortun Lodge featured Scandinavian woodcarver Barb Oase of Duluth.
On December 10th we celebrated with a traditional Scandinavian Julebord  (Christmas table) potluck smörgasbord.
On the night of the Christmas City of the North parade, we ventured down to the Nordic Center for its celebration of Pepperkakebyen (roughly Gingerbread Town).
The November Nortun Lodge meeting featured Jen Jubenville, the manager of the Bookstore at Fitgers, talking about the latest and hottest in Norwegian literature.
Cliff Nesseth is the Duluth Nordic Center’s Arts and Cultural Events Coordinator and noted Scandinavian folk musician, talked about the Nordic Center’s mission and upcoming programs. A member of several musical ensembles and an accomplished violinist, Cliff also entertained the Lodge with renditions of Scandinavian folk songs.
